Which characters are flagged

An Amazon staff summary of the title requirements says titles must not include decorative characters like ~ ! * $ ? _ { } # < > | ; ^ ¬ ¦, that titles should not contain promotional language such as “free shipping” or “100% quality guaranteed”, and that the title should clearly say what the product is. This tool searches for exactly those characters and reports each position.

The summary is a staff post, and the full guidance in Amazon’s Product title requirements page can carry exceptions, for example a character that is part of a brand name. If a flagged character is part of your registered brand, leave it. The “cleaned” copy simply deletes the flagged characters, so read it before use. Promotional phrases other than the two examples are common wording to review, not an Amazon-published list.

Official sources checked 18 October 2026: Amazon Seller Central announcement “Updates to improve your product titles begin on July 27” (News_Amazon, Seller Forums, updated 10 June 2026); Amazon staff summary of product title requirements (Seller Forums); and Amazon’s Product title requirements and guidelines for category and marketplace detail. Some third-party blogs give different details, such as enforcement timing, so this page follows Seller Central only. TNAADO is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Amazon. Guidance can change and can differ by category and marketplace, so confirm the final listing in Seller Central. Sources checked 18 October 2026.
