TSSA fuels contractor lookup.

In Ontario, businesses doing fuels work (natural gas, propane, oil, chimney liners) must be registered with TSSA. TSSA publishes a searchable registry of Registered Fuels Contractors. Check a registration number's pattern here, then search the registry.

Important, up front: TSSA says Registered Fuels Contractors are the only businesses legally authorized to do fuels-related work in Ontario. The registry lists companies, not individual gas technicians: TSSA's pages describe no public lookup for individual G1/G2/G3 certificates.

What the registry shows

Each listing shows the company name, an authorization number and an address. You can search by company name or authorization number, by city or postal code, and by fuel type (fuel oil, natural gas, liquid propane, chimney liner). TSSA says the city or postal code refers only to the contractor's main office, that the tool is updated at the beginning of each month, and that listing is not an endorsement or referral.

G1, G2 and G3

TSSA lists Gas Technician 1 (G.1), Gas Technician 2 (G.2) and Gas Technician 3 (G.3) among its Fuels Safety certifications. Its page does not define their scope here; its requirements show the levels differ, for example a G1 challenge application requires proof of 3,500 hours at the G2 level and 500 hours of supervised work on equipment exceeding 400,000 BTUH. For questions about a technician's certificate, use the contact details on TSSA's fuels certification page.
