Which trades register is this number from?

Canadian trades and contractor numbers come from many agencies, and several share a length. Paste a number to see every register it could fit, then open the matching guide or official register.

Important, up front: this is a shape guess. A seven-digit number, for instance, fits both an ECRA/ESA licence and an Alberta AIT ID. It cannot tell you whether a number exists or is current.

Frequently asked questions

How do I tell an RBQ number from an ECRA/ESA number?

By length: an RBQ number has 10 digits (XXXX-XXXX-XX); an ECRA/ESA licence number has 7.

Why does a seven-digit number match two registers?

Alberta AIT IDs run 4 to 7 digits and ECRA/ESA licences are 7 digits. Check where the number came from (an electrical contractor's estimate versus an Alberta apprenticeship record).

Does a match mean the licence is real?

No. It means the shape fits. Confirm on the official register.

Guide and shape check only — not a verification

This page does not query, copy or proxy any register and cannot confirm anyone's licence, certificate or registration. Anything you type stays in your browser. Only the official register linked above can confirm current status, and rules can change, so check the source before you rely on this page.
