SkilledTradesBC verify a tradesperson's certification.

SkilledTradesBC runs the official check for B.C. Certificates of Qualification and Red Seals. It wants the certificate number without dashes. Type the number as printed to see it in the form the official check expects.

Important, up front: the official check only covers credentials issued in B.C. It does not verify certification from other provinces, the tradesperson's location, or endorsements. This page only reformats what you type; it cannot confirm a certificate.

What you need for the official check

SkilledTradesBC's form asks for the person's first name, last name, certificate number and trade. The trade is chosen from a dropdown, and SkilledTradesBC notes the trade's name appears on the certificate. The certificate number is entered without dashes: its page gives a certificate shown as K-01-100111 as entered K01100111.

What it can show

The tool can show whether a person is certified in B.C., which trade they hold, and whether they have a Certificate of Qualification, a Red Seal, or both. It will not verify certification in other provinces, the tradesperson's location, or endorsements; SkilledTradesBC directs endorsement questions to Customer Service. For other provinces use the Red Seal verification guide.

Licences are separate

A certificate is not a business or work licence. For gas and electrical work in B.C. see the Technical Safety BC guide.

Frequently asked questions

What certificate number format does SkilledTradesBC want?

The number without dashes. SkilledTradesBC's own example turns K-01-100111 into K01100111. This page strips dashes and spaces for you, but it cannot tell whether a number is real.

Can SkilledTradesBC verify a Red Seal from another province?

No. The tool covers credentials issued in B.C. only. Use the issuing province's process; the Red Seal verification guide lists each one.

Does the tool show whether someone is licensed to do gas or electrical work?

No. It shows trade certification. Regulated work such as gas and electrical is licensed separately by Technical Safety BC.

Guide and shape check only — not a verification
