Canadian · Teacher Certification
Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Newfoundland teacher certification check.
Unlike Ontario or BC, these three provinces’ official pages we reviewed describe no general public search of certified teachers. This page says what each province does publish and who to ask.
Short answer: No general public teacher lookup was found on the official NS, NB or NL certification pages. New Brunswick publishes a registry of suspended and revoked certificates; otherwise contact the provincial certification office.
Nova Scotia
The Office of Teacher Certification site describes a Teacher Certification System portal through which certified teachers and applicants submit documents, inquiries and applications. The pages we reviewed describe no public directory or lookup of certified teachers.
The Office lists Registrar-Teacher Certification, P.O. Box 578, 2021 Brunswick Street, Halifax, NS B3J 2S9; phone 902-424-6620; email certification@novascotia.ca (Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM). The contact page does not mention a statement of professional standing or a way to verify a certificate, so ask the office directly.
New Brunswick
New Brunswick publishes a Registry of Suspended and Revoked New Brunswick Teachers’ Certificates. It is a list, not a search of all teachers, and the province says only suspensions and revocations related to misconduct occurring after July 1, 2021 have been entered. A name missing from it therefore does not show a clean record, and the page shows no last-updated date.
The Office of Teacher Certification also describes a Statement of Professional Standing (Form F) that confirms a teacher holds a valid New Brunswick certificate; the page presents it as a document the teacher requests. Office phone (506) 453-2785; P.O. Box 6000, Fredericton NB E3B 5H1.
Newfoundland and Labrador
The province’s certification page describes a Statement of Professional Standing that shows whether a certificate is in good standing and whether it has ever been cancelled, suspended or revoked, for a fee, and it can be sent directly to another office. The page text we reviewed describes no public search of certified teachers. Contact the Registrar of Teacher Certification at 1-709-729-3020 or teachercertification@gov.nl.ca.

What to do if you need confirmation
Employers and boards can ask the teacher for a current Statement of Professional Standing from the issuing province, or contact the certification office. Do not rely on a screenshot or unsigned letter.

Guide only — not a verification service
This page is an independent guide to official registers. It does not check anyone’s certification, does not query or copy any register, and nothing you might type here is transmitted anywhere (there is no form on this page). Registers differ in scope and update speed, so treat the official register’s result, or a written statement from the issuing authority, as the answer. Not legal or employment advice.
