About this uppercase converter

The converter changes every lowercase letter to its capital form and leaves digits, punctuation and spaces alone. Use it for headings, labels, codes, spreadsheet columns that must match, or text that was typed in the wrong case.

Letters that change length

A few letters uppercase to more than one character. The German sharp s becomes SS, so Straße becomes STRASSE (the Unicode SpecialCasing table defines this mapping), and the character count of the result can be higher than the input. The result cannot be converted back to the original spelling, because lowercase SS is not always ß.

Turkish and Azerbaijani

In Turkish and Azerbaijani the lowercase i has a capital with a dot, İ, and the capital I pairs with a dotless ı. The default mode follows the language-neutral rule (i becomes I). Choose Turkish or Azerbaijani under Language rules to get İSTANBUL from istanbul.

FAQ: Uppercase converter

How do I convert text to uppercase?

Paste or type the text in the box. The ALL CAPS version appears in the result panel at once; click Copy result to copy it.

Can I convert text to uppercase outside a word processor?

Most word processors have a change-case command, but it only works inside that program. This page works anywhere you can paste, including plain text, spreadsheets and code, and it keeps your line breaks.

Why did one letter become two (ß to SS)?

The Unicode standard maps the German ß to SS in uppercase. That is correct behaviour, not a bug, but it makes the text longer and the change cannot be reversed automatically.

Is my text uploaded?

No. The conversion happens in your browser and nothing is sent or stored.
