FAQ: Alphabetical order sorter

How do I put a list in alphabetical order?

Paste the list with one item per line. It is sorted A to Z as soon as you paste; change Order to Z to A if you need the reverse, then click Copy result.

Why does item10 come after item2?

With “Sort numbers by value” on, 2 is read as a smaller number than 10, which is how people expect a list to be ordered. Untick it for strict letter-by-letter order.

Does capitalization change the order?

Not by default: apple and Apple sort together. Tick “Case and accents matter” to separate them.

Is my list uploaded?

No. The sorting happens in your browser and nothing is sent or stored.
