About this sentence case converter
Sentence case lowercases the text, then capitalizes the first letter of every sentence. It is the usual fix for text that arrived in ALL CAPS, and it is the style many sites use for headings and button labels.
What counts as a sentence start
- The start of the text and the start of each new line.
- The first word after a full stop, question mark, exclamation mark or ellipsis followed by a space. A closing quote or bracket after the punctuation is allowed.
- Opening quotes, brackets and Spanish inverted marks are skipped, so “hello” becomes “Hello”.
- Decimals such as 3.14 and common abbreviations (e.g., i.e., Mr., Mrs., Ms., Dr., Prof., vs., St.) do not start a new sentence.
- The pronoun I and its contractions (I'm, I'll, I've, I'd) are capitalized.
What it cannot know
The converter cannot recognize names of people, places or companies, so they are lowercased unless they contain an inner capital and you tick “Leave words with capitals inside alone”. Check names after converting. For Turkish or Azerbaijani text, choose that language so i and I map correctly; the English rule for the pronoun I is then switched off.

How do I convert ALL CAPS text to sentence case?

What is the difference between sentence case and title case?
Sentence case capitalizes only the first word of a sentence, like normal prose. Title case capitalizes the main words, as in a headline. Use the title case converter for headlines.
Why are names lowercased?
A browser tool has no dictionary of names. Tick “Leave words with capitals inside alone” to protect words like NASA and iPhone, and capitalize plain names by hand afterwards.
