About this number sorter
Numbers are compared by value, not as text. A plain text sort puts 100 before 9 because "1" comes before "9"; this tool puts 9 first. The list can be separated by commas, semicolons, spaces or line breaks in any mix.
Worked example
10, 2, 33
-4 3.5 2
Low to high: -4, 2, 2, 3.5, 10, 33. With Remove duplicate values ticked the second 2 is dropped. Equal values keep the order you entered them in, and each number is shown exactly as you typed it (so 2.50 stays 2.50).
What is accepted
- Whole numbers, decimals with a period (
3.5,.5), a leading plus or minus, and scientific notation such as1e3. - Anything else (words,
NaN,Infinity, numbers with a decimal comma or thousands separators) is skipped and listed, not guessed at. Because commas separate numbers here, write 1000, not 1,000.
Limits
Values are compared as standard double-precision numbers, so integers above 9,007,199,254,740,991 can lose precision. Input is limited to 5 MB and stays on your device.
FAQ
How do I sort numbers from smallest to largest?
Paste the numbers, leave Order on "Low to high" and copy the result. Separators can be commas, spaces or new lines.
Why is 100 before 9 in my sorted list?
That happens when numbers are sorted as text. This tool sorts by numeric value, so 9 comes before 100.
What happens to items that are not numbers?
They are ignored and listed below the result, so you can see what was skipped.
