About this text reverser

The tool reverses by user-perceived characters (Unicode extended grapheme clusters, as defined in Unicode Standard Annex #29), not by raw code units. A thumbs-up with a skin tone, a flag, a family emoji joined with zero-width joiners, or a letter plus a combining accent each move as one unit. Naive reversal in many programming languages splits those apart and produces broken characters.

Worked example

Hello, world

Characters: dlrow ,olleH. Words: world Hello,. Letters inside each word: ,olleH dlrow. Upside down: plɹoʍ 'ollǝH (each Latin letter is swapped for a look-alike upside-down Unicode character, and the comma becomes an apostrophe).

Modes

Limits

Right-to-left scripts such as Arabic and Hebrew are reversed in memory order, so the result may display unexpectedly because the browser applies its own bidirectional layout. Input is limited to 5 MB.

FAQ

How do I reverse text online?

Paste or type your text and pick "Whole text, backwards". The reversed string appears as you type; use Copy result to take it.

Does it break emoji when reversing?

No. Text is reversed by grapheme cluster, so emoji sequences, flags, skin tones and accented letters stay in one piece.

How is reversing words different from reversing text?

Reversing text flips every character, so the letters of each word are backwards too. Reversing the order of words keeps each word readable and only swaps their positions.
