Pixels are the reliable baseline
Embedded DPI metadata is often missing or ignored by design software. The useful question is how many pixels you have at the physical size you plan to print: effective DPI = pixels ÷ inches. At 300 DPI, a 1800-pixel edge supports 6 inches; at 150 DPI it supports 12 inches.
This checker reads common PNG pHYs and JPEG JFIF density metadata when present, but its target-size calculation is based on pixel dimensions. Confirm the printer’s own resolution requirements before production.
