OCT teacher lookup.
To check whether someone is certified to teach in Ontario, search the Ontario College of Teachers’ public register, Find a Teacher. This page explains what the register shows and links you straight to it.
Short answer: Use the College’s own Find a Teacher register. It is the authoritative record; this page cannot confirm anyone’s status.
What the OCT public register shows
According to the College’s help centre, the public register includes a member’s name, teaching qualifications, terms, limitations and conditions, date of initial certification, College membership status, Sexual Abuse Prevention Program status, and disciplinary history if applicable. It does not display contact information.
The register is one input to a hiring or tutoring decision; it is not a reference check.
Find a teacher in Ontario
The College’s page invites you to “Search our Public Register” under Find a Teacher. Open it and search by the teacher’s name.
Why check the OCT register
Parents, schools, private tutoring and tutoring-centre operators, and employers sometimes want to confirm that someone presenting as an Ontario-certified teacher actually is one and whether any conditions or discipline apply. The register is the College’s public answer to that question.
Reading the result
Look at the membership status and any terms, limitations or conditions, and at the disciplinary history field. A missing record can have innocent causes such as a different current or former name, so try name variants before drawing conclusions.

Guide only — not a verification service
This page is an independent guide to official registers. It does not check anyone’s certification, does not query or copy any register, and nothing you might type here is transmitted anywhere (there is no form on this page). Registers differ in scope and update speed, so treat the official register’s result, or a written statement from the issuing authority, as the answer. Not legal or employment advice.
