BC teacher certificate lookup.
The BC Teachers Regulation Branch runs a public Find a Teacher registry for B.C. certificate holders and holders of a letter of permission. Search by last and given name.
Short answer: Use the Teachers Regulation Branch registry. It shows current validity and holder status, and discipline case summaries, for current holders.
What the BC registry shows
The Branch’s Find a Teacher page says the registry “provides information about current certificate holders and holders of a letter of permission”. Searches use Last Name and Given Name(s). Results listed on the page include current validity status, certificate holder status, current certificates and letters of permission, status history, and a case summary for disciplinary matters.
If you cannot find someone, the Branch says it may be because the name was entered incorrectly (including not using the legal name), the person has no certificate or letter of permission, or they are still applying.
Search the BC registry
Employers and individuals
The Branch lists a separate Employers’ Area that requires a login to find certificate details for an educator. The public registry above needs no account. Use legal names, and try former names if a search returns nothing.

Yes, results include a case summary for disciplinary matters. Discipline outcomes for former certificate holders are in a separate database linked from the registry.
Do I need an account to search?
The public Find a Teacher search does not. The Employers’ Area is a separate login.
Guide only — not a verification service
This page is an independent guide to official registers. It does not check anyone’s certification, does not query or copy any register, and nothing you might type here is transmitted anywhere (there is no form on this page). Registers differ in scope and update speed, so treat the official register’s result, or a written statement from the issuing authority, as the answer. Not legal or employment advice.
