CRTO respiratory therapist lookup.
The CRTO publishes an online register for finding a respiratory therapist. This page links to it and works out the CRTO’s end-of-February renewal deadline. It does not search the register for you.
Short answer: Use the CRTO’s own register for the record. The CRTO registration year runs March 1 to the end of February, and the renewal deadline is the last day of February, which is the 29th in a leap year.
What the CRTO publishes
The CRTO’s register page invites the public to find a respiratory therapist through its online register. The page read for this guide does not list the fields a result shows, so this guide does not either. The register address on the CRTO’s page uses plain http, so check the address bar when it opens.
The CRTO’s renewal page sets out the annual cycle:
- The registration year runs from March 1 until the end of February.
- The renewal deadline is the last day of February each year.
- Late fees apply to incomplete renewals from March 1. The 2026 schedule listed $162.50 for General, Limited or Graduate members and $50.00 for Inactive members.
- A member who does not renew may have the certificate of registration suspended, after which they are no longer permitted to practise as a respiratory therapist in Ontario. The 2026 schedule listed a $325.00 reinstatement fee.
The fee amounts and notice dates are from the 2026 schedule and change over time. Confirm them on the CRTO’s page.

Why you’d check a respiratory therapist
People check the register to confirm a home-care provider or clinician is registered, to match a name on a report, or to see whether a certificate has been suspended. The CRTO is the regulator whose register answers that.
Why February matters
Unlike regulators that renew on a fixed date such as December 1, the CRTO’s deadline is the last day of February, so it moves from February 28 to February 29 in leap years. That is the edge case the calculator below handles: for example, the deadline is February 28 in 2027 and February 29 in 2028.
Before you search
- Use the name exactly as it appears on a letter, badge or invoice.
- Note the workplace and city to separate people with common names.
- If the register returns nothing, try other spellings and ask the CRTO before concluding anything.
What a register result can and cannot tell you
A register entry reflects what the regulator holds on the date you look. It does not rate quality of work, and it is not a recommendation. If something looks wrong or out of date, contact the regulator.

The last day of February each year. The CRTO registration year runs from March 1 until the end of February.

No. It performs no search and cannot confirm anyone’s registration.
Guide only — not a verification tool
This page does not check anyone’s registration, does not copy or proxy the register, and nothing you might type here is transmitted anywhere. The renewal calculator is date arithmetic on the dates the regulator published; it cannot tell you whether anyone has renewed. This page is not affiliated with or endorsed by College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario (CRTO). Use the official register linked above, and contact the regulator if you have a concern. Information was read from the regulator’s public pages in October 2026 and may change.
