What Manitoba publishes
Manitoba lists the dates "you can expect your monthly EIA benefits" in a table on the Employment and Income Assistance (EIA) page. Each row has a benefit month, a direct deposit date and a mailed cheque date. When we read it on October 20, 2026, the table ran from the April 2026 benefit month to the April 2027 benefit month, so four of its rows fall in 2027: January, February, March and April. Those four rows are in the table above. There is no row for May 2027 or later yet, and we have not filled any in.
The page adds one line of guidance: "benefits are not due until the 1st of every month", and benefits may be delayed if you have not provided requested documents. It gives the EIA Service Centre as 204-948-2888, or toll-free 1-855-944-8111, for questions about a benefit.
Worked example
Take the February 2027 benefit month. Manitoba gives Wednesday, January 27, 2027 for direct deposit and Thursday, January 28, 2027 for mailed cheques, so the cheque date is one day after the deposit date. Both are in January, several days before the February 1 date the benefit is due. Now compare the April 2027 benefit month. Direct deposit is Thursday, March 25, 2027, but mailed cheques are Tuesday, March 30, 2027, five days later. Good Friday in 2027 is March 26, which falls between those two dates. Manitoba's page does not say that this is the reason, so we mention it only as a coincidence worth knowing when you plan around a cheque.
Across the nine 2026 rows, the cheque is one to three days after the deposit date. In 2027 the gap is 1 day for January, 1 for February, 1 for March and 5 for April.
The 2026 rows on the same page
The benefit months before 2027 are listed below, so you can see how the schedule moves. They are copied from the same table.
| Benefit month | Direct deposit | Mailed cheques |
|---|---|---|
| April 2026 | Friday, March 27, 2026 | Monday, March 30, 2026 |
| May 2026 | Tuesday, April 28, 2026 | Wednesday, April 29, 2026 |
| June 2026 | Wednesday, May 27, 2026 | Thursday, May 28, 2026 |
| July 2026 | Friday, June 26, 2026 | Monday, June 29, 2026 |
| August 2026 | Wednesday, July 29, 2026 | Thursday, July 30, 2026 |
| September 2026 | Thursday, August 27, 2026 | Friday, August 28, 2026 |
| October 2026 | Friday, September 25, 2026 | Monday, September 28, 2026 |
| November 2026 | Wednesday, October 28, 2026 | Thursday, October 29, 2026 |
| December 2026 | Thursday, November 26, 2026 | Friday, November 27, 2026 |
Notice that the deposit dates do not follow one fixed rule such as "last business day". The October 2026 benefit is deposited on Friday, September 25, 2026, five days before the end of September, while the December 2026 benefit is deposited on Thursday, November 26. Because the pattern is irregular, this page does not work out any 2027 date that Manitoba has not published, and a month Manitoba has not listed stays blank here.
What this page does not cover
- Your amount. Rent Assist and other amounts are set by Manitoba and depend on your household. This page shows dates only.
- Whether your payment is on hold. Manitoba says benefits may be delayed if requested documents have not been provided. Only the EIA Service Centre can tell you about your own file.
- May 2027 onward. Manitoba had not published those dates when we checked. Check the Manitoba page, which is the source of every date in the table above.
- Posting time at your bank. The deposit date is when Manitoba sends the payment. Your institution decides when it is available.
- Other programs. The Canada Disability Benefit, CPP and OAS are federal and follow their own calendars. See the Canada benefit payment dates page.
FAQ
When is Manitoba EIA paid in 2027?
Manitoba lists Tuesday, December 29, 2026 for the January 2027 benefit, Wednesday, January 27, 2027 for February, Wednesday, February 24, 2027 for March and Thursday, March 25, 2027 for April, all by direct deposit. Later 2027 months were not published when we checked.
What is the difference between the deposit date and the cheque date?
Manitoba lists two dates for each benefit month. The first is for direct deposit and the second is for mailed cheques, which are sent one or more days later. For the February 2027 benefit that is January 27 and January 28.
Are EIA benefits paid before the first of the month?
Yes. Each listed date falls in the month before the benefit month, for example January 27, 2027 for the February 2027 benefit. Manitoba also says benefits are not due until the 1st of every month.
Why is the April 2027 cheque date later than the others?
Manitoba lists Thursday, March 25, 2027 for deposit and Tuesday, March 30, 2027 for cheques, a five-day gap. The page does not say why. Good Friday in 2027 is March 26, which falls in between.
Has Manitoba published EIA dates for May 2027?
Not when we checked on October 20, 2026. The table ended with the April 2027 benefit month. We do not predict dates Manitoba has not published, because its past dates do not follow one simple rule.
Who do I call about a missing EIA payment?
Manitoba's page gives the EIA Service Centre at 204-948-2888, or toll-free 1-855-944-8111. Use it for questions about your own benefits, which this page cannot see.
Can my EIA payment be delayed?
Manitoba says benefits may be delayed if you have not provided requested documents. The dates here are the schedule, not a guarantee for an individual file.
Does this page show how much EIA I will get?
No. It shows payment dates only. Amounts depend on your household and are set by Manitoba.
