How BC lays out the 2027 schedule
British Columbia publishes its assistance payment dates as a plain list on the Income assistance payment dates page. Every line has the form "date (for month)", so the date is when the payment is issued and the month in brackets is the month it is meant to cover. The first 2027 line reads "January 20, 2027 (for February 2027)", which means the money for February is scheduled to be issued in January. The last line is December 22, 2027, and it is the payment for January 2028, so the 2027 list ends by looking one month into 2028.
Two features are worth knowing before you plan around a date. First, all twelve dates in the 2027 list, and the December 2026 date that funds January 2027, are Wednesdays, so none lands on a weekend. Second, the gaps are not even. Counting from the December 16, 2026 payment, 7 of the twelve gaps are 28 days and 5 are 35 days, so in some months you wait five weeks between payments and in others four. The right-hand column of the table above shows the gap before each date.
Worked example (hypothetical)
Suppose a household pays rent on the first of each month. For March 2027 rent, BC's list gives Wednesday, February 24, 2027, which is 5 days before March 1. For April 2027 rent, it gives Wednesday, March 24, 2027, which is 8 days before April 1. The gap between those two payments is 28 days. The payments for June and July are Wednesday, May 19, 2027 and Wednesday, June 23, 2027, a gap of 35 days, so a budget built on "every four weeks" would run a week short there. This household is invented for illustration. Your own payment depends on your case.
The rest of 2026, for reference
The same BC page lists the remaining 2026 dates: October 21, 2026 (for November 2026), November 18, 2026 (for December 2026) and December 16, 2026 (for January 2027). At the time we read it, the page said the next payment date was October 21, 2026. The December 16, 2026 payment is the one that funds January 2027, which is why it appears as the first row of the table above even though it is paid in 2026.
The monthly report
If you receive income assistance, BC says you must complete a monthly report form each month, also called the "cheque stub", and that it is due by the fifth of each month. BC says it uses that report to determine your eligibility or the amount of your next assistance cheque. The payment dates page itself does not explain how the report and the payment date connect, so treat the fifth of the month as a separate deadline and confirm what applies to you in My Self Serve or with your local office. You can submit the report through My Self Serve or on paper.
What this page does not cover
- Disability assistance. The province's page is titled "Income assistance payment dates" and lists one schedule for "your assistance payment". It does not publish a separate disability column, and it does not say that disability assistance follows a different calendar. We have found no separate published schedule, so this page shows the one list that exists. Confirm in My Self Serve if you receive disability assistance.
- Weekend and holiday rules. The page states no rule for what happens when a date falls on a holiday, because every listed date is a Wednesday. If BC changes a date, its page is the place that will show it.
- Your amount and eligibility. This page shows dates only. It cannot see your file, your deductions or whether a payment is on hold.
- When the money reaches you. The date is when BC schedules the payment. Direct deposit timing depends on your bank, and a mailed or collected cheque takes longer.
- Federal benefits. The Canada Disability Benefit, CPP and OAS have their own federal calendars. See the Canada Disability Benefit payment dates and CPP, OAS and GIS payment dates pages.
- Dates after December 22, 2027. The 2028 schedule was not published when this page was checked.
FAQ
When is the next BC income assistance payment in 2027?
The first 2027 payment on BC's schedule is Wednesday, January 20, 2027, and it is for February 2027. The payment before it, Wednesday, December 16, 2026, funds January 2027 and is paid in 2026.
What day of the week does BC pay income assistance in 2027?
Every date on the published 2027 schedule is a Wednesday, so none falls on a weekend. The gap between payments alternates between 28 and 35 days.
When is the BC assistance payment for December 2027?
BC's list gives Wednesday, November 24, 2027 for December 2027. The date for January 2028 is Wednesday, December 22, 2027, which is paid within 2027.
Is the date the day the money is in my account?
Not necessarily. It is the scheduled payment date. How soon the money appears depends on whether you use direct deposit and on your bank, and a cheque takes longer.
Does BC publish a separate schedule for disability assistance?
The page we read lists one schedule under "Income assistance payment dates" and does not break out disability assistance. We did not find a different published calendar, so confirm your own date in My Self Serve.
When is the BC monthly report due?
BC says the monthly report for income assistance is due by the fifth of each month. It is used to decide your eligibility or the amount of your next cheque, so it is a separate deadline from the payment date.
Why are some gaps between BC payments five weeks?
The published dates are Wednesdays chosen by the ministry, and 5 of the twelve gaps in this table are 35 days against 7 of 28 days. BC's page does not explain how it picks them, so rely on the list rather than assuming a four-week cycle.
How current is this schedule?
The BC page said it was last updated on September 24, 2026 when we read it on October 20, 2026. BC can change a date, so check the province page before a payment that matters.
