What Alberta publishes and what we worked out
Alberta's page for AISH, ADAP and Income Support payment dates states one rule for all three programs: the monthly payment "occurs 4 business days before the first of the month". Benefits issued by direct deposit are deposited on that day, and benefits issued by cheque are mailed 6 business days before the first of the month. The page then gives a table for 2026, with one line per period of assistance, ending with the January 2027 period, paid on Tuesday, December 22, 2026. That January 2027 line is the only 2027 period Alberta has published. There is no 2027 table yet.
The February to December 2027 rows above apply Alberta's rule to the 2027 calendar and are labelled "worked out". We checked the rule against the 2026 table first. Counting four business days back from the first of each month reproduces all eleven published 2026 deposit dates from the February period to the December period, from January 27 to November 25, once weekends, statutory holidays and September 30 are not counted as business days.
Worked example
Take the March 2027 period. March 1, 2027 is a Monday. Counting back one business day at a time gives Friday, February 26, then Thursday, February 25, then Wednesday, February 24, and finally Tuesday, February 23, 2027 as the fourth. Compare February 2026, when March 1 was a Sunday and the published date was Tuesday, February 24, 2026. The same four-day count, from a different starting weekday, lands on a different date.
Now the April 2027 period. April 1 is a Thursday. Counting back, March 31, March 30 and March 29 are the first three business days. Friday, March 26, 2027 is Good Friday, so we skip it and the fourth day is Thursday, March 25, 2027. This is the date to treat with the most care: the 2026 table never had to cross Good Friday, so our reading that Alberta skips it is an assumption about a statutory holiday, not something the table proves. If Alberta does not skip it, the date would be March 26.
The October 2027 period behaves like October 2026. September 30 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. In 2026 the October period was deposited on Thursday, September 24, which is what you get when September 30 is skipped. Doing the same for 2027 gives Friday, September 24, 2027.
December and the January payment
The 2026 table shows the January 2026 period paid on Monday, December 22, 2025, and the January 2027 period paid on Wednesday, December 22, 2026. Counting four business days back from January 1 lands on or after December 24 in both years, so the January payment is issued earlier than the plain count. Alberta's page does not say why, so we do not give a January 2028 date. We also do not assume it will be December 22 again. Check Alberta's page in the autumn.
Cheques and direct deposit
Alberta states that cheques go in the mail two business days earlier than the direct deposit date, which is six business days against four before the first of the month. A mailed cheque still has to arrive, and a deposit still has to post, so the dates here are the issue dates in the table, not a promise about when funds are usable. The page does not give a separate cheque table.
What this page does not cover
- Which program you are on. Alberta's page lists one schedule for AISH, ADAP and Income Support together. This page does not tell you which of them you are on, or what you are eligible for.
- Your amount. Benefit amounts and the AISH and ADAP benefit estimator are Alberta's. Nothing here calculates an amount.
- Federal benefits. The Canada Disability Benefit, CPP and OAS are on federal calendars. See the Canada Disability Benefit payment dates page.
- Provincial holidays Alberta might change. The business-day count depends on the statutory holiday calendar. Where a holiday falls inside a count, the table says so.
- Dates Alberta later publishes. If Alberta posts a 2027 table, its dates replace ours.
FAQ
When is AISH paid in 2027?
Alberta pays AISH, ADAP and Income Support four business days before the first of the month for direct deposit. Alberta has published only the January 2027 period (December 22, 2026). The February to December dates here apply that rule and are labelled worked out.
What is the AISH payment date for February 2027?
Four business days before February 1, 2027 is Tuesday, January 26, 2027. This is worked out from Alberta's rule, not copied from a 2027 table.
Are AISH, ADAP and Income Support paid on the same day?
Alberta publishes one schedule for all three programs. Its page says the monthly payment for AISH, ADAP and Income Support occurs four business days before the first of the month.
When are cheques mailed?
Alberta says cheques are mailed six business days before the first of the month, two business days before direct deposits. The page does not publish a separate cheque table, so we do not list one.
Why is the April 2027 period on March 25?
Counting four business days back from April 1, 2027 passes Good Friday on March 26. We skip it as a statutory holiday, giving March 25. The 2026 table never crossed Good Friday, so this is an assumption to confirm.
Why is the January payment in December?
Alberta pays each period before it starts. The January 2027 period is deposited on December 22, 2026, which is earlier than a plain four-business-day count would give.
Has Alberta published the 2027 table?
Not when we checked on October 20, 2026. The page shows the 2026 periods and the January 2027 period.
Does this page show how much AISH I get?
No. It shows dates only. Alberta has an AISH and ADAP benefit estimator for amounts.
