COO optometrist lookup.
The College of Optometrists of Ontario publishes a Find an Optometrist register. This page explains what the College says it shows and links to the search. It does not search for you.
Use the official register for the answer: Use the College’s Find an Optometrist register for the record. This page is a guide and cannot confirm any optometrist’s registration.
What the College says is public
The College says Ontario’s health regulatory colleges are required by law to provide information about the providers they oversee, and that it is your right to know about registration status, practice locations, specialities, practice limitations and disciplinary proceedings for its members. It also publishes a separate search for optometry professional corporations. The College uses “member” and “registrant” interchangeably.
Categories of information the College says the public may learn about members:
- Registration status
- Practice locations and specialities
- Practice limitations and disciplinary proceedings
This is the College’s general statement of what is public. What appears for a particular optometrist is shown by the register itself.
Check a optometrist in Ontario
Open the College of Optometrists of Ontario register in a new tab. The College’s result, not this page, is the authoritative record.
Why you’d check a optometrist’s registration
Common reasons: choosing an eye-care provider, checking a prescription or report author, or confirming a clinic’s optometrist is registered.
Before you search
- Have the full legal name as printed on a receipt, licence or letter, and any other name the person uses.
- Note the city or clinic, which can help separate people with common names.
- If the register returns nothing, try other spellings and ask the COO directly before drawing any conclusion.
What a register result can and cannot tell you
A register entry reflects what the College holds on the date you look. It does not rate quality of care, and it is not a recommendation. If something looks wrong or out of date, contact the College.
