Verify a realtor licence in Alberta with RECA ProCheck.

The Real Estate Council of Alberta (RECA) runs ProCheck, a public search that confirms whether a real estate, mortgage, property management or condominium management professional in Alberta is properly licensed. This page explains what it covers and sends you to it.

Short answer: search the person by name, or the brokerage by name (and optionally town or city), in RECA ProCheck. This page does not look anyone up and cannot confirm a licence on its own.

What RECA ProCheck covers

RECA states that ProCheck lets you confirm whether a real estate, mortgage, property management, or condominium management professional in Alberta is properly licensed. According to RECA, you can use it to:

  • Verify that an individual or brokerage is legally authorized to work in Alberta
  • See what type of licence they hold
  • View disciplinary decisions issued in the last five years

RECA also notes that updates can take time to appear and some details may not reflect the most recent activity, so treat a missing or surprising result as a reason to contact RECA, not as proof either way.

Open RECA ProCheck

ProCheck has two searches: Find a Professional (by name) and Find a Brokerage (by brokerage name, with an optional town or city).

When to check an Alberta licence

Typical reasons: before signing a listing or buyer representation agreement, before handing a deposit to a brokerage, when an unfamiliar mortgage or property-management contact approaches you, or when a condo board is vetting a management company.

Need proof for a legal matter?

RECA says that if you need documentation for legal purposes you can request an Official Licensing History certificate from RECA. ProCheck itself is a quick public check, not a certificate.

Guide only — not a verification tool

This page describes the official register and links to it. It does not check anyone’s licence status, does not copy or proxy the register, and nothing you might type here is transmitted anywhere. Registers change; use the official source linked above and contact the regulator to confirm anything that matters.
