Saskatchewan · Mortgage Licensing

Saskatchewan mortgage broker licence lookup.

In Saskatchewan, the Financial and Consumer Affairs Authority (FCAA) publishes lists of licensed mortgage brokerages, administrators, brokers and associates. This page explains what is on those lists and links you to the official source.

Short answer: open the FCAA consumer page on mortgage brokers and use its list of licensed brokerages, administrators, brokers and associates. This page does not check anyone’s licence itself.

What the FCAA publishes

FCAA’s consumer page for mortgages points to four lists — licensed mortgage brokerages, licensed mortgage administrators, licensed mortgage brokers and licensed mortgage associates — plus a section on disciplined persons. FCAA suggests asking a broker:

  • Are you a licensed mortgage broker?
  • Will we sign a contract?
  • What services do you provide?
  • Do you charge a fee?

FCAA also says the licensing provisions do not apply to banks, credit unions, certain insurance companies, certain trust and loan corporations, provincial or federal Crown corporations, and members of the Law Society of Saskatchewan when practising as barristers or solicitors. So an unlisted bank or credit union is not necessarily unlicensed.

Open the FCAA lists

The lists sit on FCAA’s page “Working with a Mortgage Brokerage, Mortgage Broker, Mortgage Associate or Mortgage Administrator” under “List of licensed mortgage brokerages, administrators, brokers and associates”.

When to check a Saskatchewan mortgage licence

Typical reasons: before paying a broker fee or signing a brokering contract, when someone offers a private mortgage, or when comparing brokers after an online ad.

Where to complain

FCAA says the Superintendent of Financial Institutions investigates consumer complaints against brokers, associates, brokerages and administrators, and suggests first raising concerns with the broker’s brokerage. Contact details are on the FCAA page linked above.

Guide only — not a verification tool

This page describes the official register and links to it. It does not check anyone’s licence status, does not copy or proxy the register, and nothing you might type here is transmitted anywhere.
