Worked example
$40 item, $6 shipping charged to the buyer, $10 item cost, $1 supplies, $6 postage. Fee: 10% x ($40 + $6) = $4.60. You receive $46 - $4.60 = $41.40. Profit: $41.40 - $10 - $1 - $6 = $24.40. The buyer pays 3.6% x $46 = $1.66 on top, a total of $47.66. To make $20 profit on the same costs, list at $35.11.
How it works
Selling fee = 10% x (item price + buyer-paid shipping). Mercari's "Fees on Mercari" page says that for listings created or updated on or after 6 January 2025 a 10% selling fee applies to the combined item price and buyer-paid shipping, and that no separate payment processing fee applies. Listings created before that date had no selling fee applied until they were updated.
Buyer total = (item price + shipping) x 1.036. The same page says the buyer pays a 3.6% Buyer Protection fee on item price plus buyer-paid shipping. It does not come out of your payout, but it is part of what the buyer sees, so it is shown separately.
Withdrawals. The page says direct deposit cash-outs no longer carry a $2 fee as of 6 January 2025, and that Instant Pay is a flat $3 per cash-out, up to $600 a month, once per day on eligible debit cards. Enter $3 in the withdrawal field if you cash out that way; it defaults to 0.
Profit = item price + shipping charged - fees - item cost - supplies - postage you pay. Reverse mode finds the lowest price, in whole cents, that reaches your target profit.

FAQ
What is the Mercari seller fee?
A flat 10% selling fee on the completed item price and buyer-paid shipping, for listings created or updated on or after 6 January 2025. Mercari's fee page lists no separate payment processing fee for buyers or sellers.
Does the Mercari selling fee apply to shipping?
Yes. Mercari says the 10% applies to the item price plus buyer-paid shipping, so charging the buyer for shipping raises the fee. In this tool, put the shipping the buyer pays in the shipping charged field.
Who pays the 3.6% Buyer Protection fee?
The buyer. Mercari's fee page says it is charged to the buyer on item price plus buyer-paid shipping, and may not be refunded depending on the reason for a return. It is not deducted from your payout.
Does it cost money to cash out from Mercari?
Mercari's page says direct deposit has no cash-out fee since 6 January 2025, apart from a $2 fee for each failed direct deposit request, and Instant Pay is a flat $3 per cash-out. Enter $3 in the withdrawal field to include it.
What should I list at to make $20 profit?
With the example costs ($10 item, $1 supplies, $6 postage, $6 shipping charged), list at $35.11. Use price mode with your own numbers.
