How the Discogs fees are worked out

The fee. Discogs says listing is free and that when you sell it charges a 9% fee on both the item and shipping costs, with a minimum of $0.10 and a maximum of $150 (equivalent minimums and maximums are listed for other currencies).

What is deducted. Discogs collects the selling fee, and any applicable taxes on it, from the buyer's payment when it is made. The combined amount appears as a "Partner Fee" or "Partner Commission" on PayPal.

Processing is separate. Discogs' support article says PayPal's processing fees are taken from the gross payment amount and directed to PayPal. They are not a Discogs fee, so type your own PayPal percentage and fixed fee into the optional fields to see your true payout.

Min and max. The $0.10 floor applies to sales under about $1.11 in total, and the $150 cap applies once item plus shipping passes about $1,666.67.

Net payout, profit and effective rate. Net payout = sale total - Discogs fees (each line rounded to the cent). Profit = net payout - your item cost - your shipping cost. Effective fee rate = total fees / sale total.

Limits of this calculator

USD rates only. Fee taxes (UK VAT, EU VAT, Australian and New Zealand GST, Japan consumption tax) that Discogs collects on its fee in some countries are not modelled, and neither are order taxes. Refunds return the selling fee, which this tool does not simulate. Discogs may change fees, so check the order page for the exact amount.
