FSRA insurance agent licence lookup.

Ontario insurance agents are licensed by FSRA. Here is how to use FSRA's public agent listing, what it can and cannot tell you, and the checks to make before you pay for a policy.

Short answer: open FSRA's Licensing Link, choose “Agents Licensed in Ontario”, and search by licence number, last name or city. A licence check does not show enforcement history, so check that separately.

How the FSRA agent search works

Per FSRA, a listing of licensed agents is available from the Licensing Link link on fsrao.ca, under “Agents Licensed in Ontario”. Members of the public can confirm an agent is licensed to do business in Ontario and search the listing by licence number, last name or city.

FSRA also publishes a licensed insurance agents dataset on its Open Data pages, but the searchable Licensing Link is the simpler route for a one-off check.

Before you pay for a policy

FSRA warns that fraudsters pose as licensed insurance agents or brokers and sell counterfeit policy documents and pink slips, so verify the licence before paying. For auto insurance, FSRA says to check that your agent or insurer is licensed with FSRA, and to check insurance brokers separately with Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario (RIBO).

What a licence check does not cover

FSRA advises that a licence check does not cover enforcement history; look at its Enforcement Online database separately for any action against the agent.

Frequently asked questions

How do I check an insurance agent licence in Ontario?

Use FSRA's Licensing Link and open “Agents Licensed in Ontario”. You can search by licence number, last name or city.

Is an insurance broker the same as an agent for this search?

FSRA's auto insurance guidance says to check brokers through Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario (RIBO), separately from FSRA's agent check. See the regulator directory.

Does the listing show complaints or discipline?

No. FSRA advises checking its Enforcement Online database separately for enforcement action.

Does this page confirm a licence?

No. It links to FSRA and explains the search. Only FSRA's own listing can show a licence status.

A guide, not a verification

TNAADO is not FSRA and this page does not check anyone's licence or imply official verification. Nothing you do here is sent anywhere. Use the official links to confirm status, and check FSRA's site for current details.
