FSRA licence status meaning.

FSRA does not publish one glossary of status labels, so this page explains the situations FSRA does describe, each with its source page.

Short answer: a lapse, a sponsor termination and an FSRA suspension or revocation are different things. Pick a situation below to see what FSRA says about it.

What FSRA says

Lapse versus regulatory action

A licence that expired or was surrendered is an administrative end. FSRA may separately revoke, suspend or impose conditions on a licence if it believes the person is no longer suitable. Neither tells you whether the person acted improperly; check FSRA's enforcement information for that.

Frequently asked questions

What does it mean if an insurance agent's licence is inactive?

FSRA says it becomes inactive on the earliest of expiry, an approved surrender, or sponsor termination.

Can an inactive agent come back?

FSRA says if the inactive date is under two years old the licence is still listed in the public registry; after two years the person must requalify as a new agent.

What is “suspended but can transfer”?

A mortgage status described by FSRA for agents whose brokerage has no licensed principal broker left; it is lifted by being authorized by another brokerage.

Is a missing name proof of fraud?

No. It can mean a different legal name or a lapsed licence, but if you are asked for money, stop and ask FSRA.

A guide, not a verification

TNAADO is not FSRA and this page does not check anyone's licence or imply official verification. Nothing you do here is sent anywhere. Use the official links to confirm status, and check FSRA's site for current details.
