Nova Scotia · Insurance Licensing
Nova Scotia insurance agent lookup.
The Nova Scotia Office of the Superintendent of Insurance licenses insurance agents, brokers, agencies and adjusters and runs an online lookup. This page explains it and links to it; it checks nothing itself.
Short answer: use the government’s Insurance Agent, Agency, or Adjuster Search. The province says the information includes licence number, type of licence, status of licence and company information.
What the lookup offers
The lookup page says the Office of the Superintendent of Insurance regulates the business of insurance in the province, enforces the Insurance Act, and licenses insurers and all insurance agents/brokers, agencies and adjusters.
There are two searches: Insurance Agent or Adjuster (first name, last name, licence number, city/town) and Insurance Agency (agency name, licence number, city/town). At least one field must have a value, and the page notes that entering more criteria returns a more concise result.
Open the Nova Scotia lookup
The province’s Licensed insurance agents and agencies page has a Start now button that opens the lookup.
Adjusters
Nova Scotia says independent adjusters and adjusting agencies must be licensed, while in-house or staff adjusters are not required to be. Individual adjuster licences follow a level system (for example Level I probationary, Level II assistant and Level III adjuster) tied to Insurance Institute of Canada courses.
Related legislation
The province lists the Insurance Act and its Regulations, the Insurance Premiums Tax Act and the Motor Vehicle Act as related legislation on its licensed agents page.

Guide only — not a verification tool
This page describes the official register and links to it. It does not check anyone’s licence status, does not copy or proxy the register, and nothing you might type here is transmitted anywhere. Registers change; use the official source linked above and contact the regulator to confirm anything that matters.
