How this works
The table is the ankle-to-knee (ATK) sizing table on Goalie Monkey. ATK is measured from the centre of the ankle bone to the middle of the knee cap, with a soft tape or a piece of string. Each pad size from youth 19 to senior 36 has a printed ATK range, and the tool returns every row whose range contains your measurement, endpoints included. Ranges overlap by design, so one measurement often fits two or three sizes.
Brand charts differ. Fit is also checked in the butterfly position: the knee should land in the centre of the knee stack, ideally with skates, pants and socks on.
Worked example. An ankle-to-knee length of 17.5 in is inside the senior 34 range (17.5 to 19 in), and also the senior 33 (16.75 to 18.5 in), senior 32 (16.5 to 18 in) and intermediate 32 (16 to 18 in) ranges. It is outside the intermediate 31 range (15.75 to 17 in). The calculator lists every size whose printed range holds your number.
Frequently asked questions
How do I measure for goalie leg pads?
Measure from the centre of the ankle bone to the middle of the knee cap (ATK). A soft tape works, or a string you measure afterwards.
What size goalie pads for a senior?
The senior sizes on the Goalie Monkey table run from 32 (16.5 to 18 in ATK) to 36 (18.5 to 20 in), for example a 34 for 17.5 to 19 in.
What does 33+2 mean on a goalie pad?
The base height is 33 in and 2 in of thigh rise is added to the top. Goalie Monkey says +1 is typical and more than +2 is uncommon.
Do all brands use the same sizes?
Not necessarily. The Goalie Monkey page says brand-specific charts should be checked because sizing varies by manufacturer.
How should pads fit once I put them on?
In the butterfly position the knee should sit in the centre of the knee stack. Try pads on with your skates, pants and socks.

The pad sizes, categories and ATK ranges are Goalie Monkey’s ankle-to-knee table. The measuring method, thigh rise and fit notes are from the same page. Returning every overlapping row is this tool’s own rule. The page also points to brand charts, which this tool does not reproduce. Runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent or stored.
Scope
A starting size from a published chart, not a professional fitting. Makers and leagues differ, so try equipment on, and check your league’s rules. Helmets and other protective gear are not covered.
