Worked example

A rider who weighs 150 lb (68 kg), is 5 ft 6 in (168 cm) tall and wears US men’s size 9 boots. Three rows of the evo chart include 150 lb: 130 to 150 lb (142 to 158 cm), 140 to 160 lb (145 to 160 cm) and 150 to 170 lb (148 to 162 cm). Averaging them gives 145 to 160 cm. The three rows average a height of 168 cm, so 168 cm is in line with the chart and the middle of the range fits. Size 9 boots fall in the 7.5 to 10 group, so look for a waist up to 255 mm.

How it works

Weight first. The evo chart lists, for each height, a weight band and a board length range, and the bands overlap. The calculator finds every row whose weight band contains your weight and averages their lengths. Above 210 lb only the open-ended last row (190+ lb, 158 cm and up) applies, so there is no upper figure. Between 190 and 210 lb the upper figure averages only the rows that have one.

evo says to size up for greater stability, improved float, fast aggressive freeriding, or if you are taller than the height listed for your weight band, and to size down for greater manoeuvrability, playful freestyle or park riding, volume-shifted boards, or if you are shorter than the height listed. The waist width guide pairs US men’s boots 4 to 7 with boards up to 245 mm, 7.5 to 10 with up to 255 mm, and 10.5 and up with 255 mm or wider (women’s: up to 8, 8.5 to 11, 11.5 and up).

Sources and basis: evo, “Snowboard Size Guide”. Opened 2026-10-08. Averaging overlapping rows is this tool’s own method. evo notes board shapes vary widely, so check the chart for the specific model.

FAQ

How do I choose a snowboard size?

Start with your weight, then adjust for height, riding style and board shape. evo’s chart pairs weight bands with board length ranges, for example 110 to 130 lb with 138 to 152 cm and 170 to 195 lb with 152 to 164 cm.

Should I size up or down?

evo suggests sizing up for stability, float, fast aggressive freeriding, or if you are taller than the chart height for your weight. Size down for manoeuvrability, playful freestyle or park riding, volume-shifted boards, or if you are shorter than the chart height.

Does snowboard length depend on height or weight?

The evo chart starts from weight and lists height alongside it. The calculator uses weight for the range and your height only to suggest leaning toward the longer or shorter end.

What snowboard width do I need for my boots?

evo’s width guide: US men’s boots 4 to 7 suit a waist up to 245 mm, 7.5 to 10 up to 255 mm, and 10.5 and up 255 mm or wider. For US women’s boots the groups are up to 8, 8.5 to 11 and 11.5 and up.

What if I weigh more than 210 lb?

The chart’s last row is 190+ lb with 158 cm and up and no upper limit, so the calculator gives a minimum length. Check the maker’s chart for your board model.
