How Shopee Malaysia charges sellers
Commission. Shopee Malaysia's Marketplace Commission Fees article says the commission is charged on your product price after deducting seller product discounts and seller vouchers, and is subject to 8% SST. For local Marketplace sellers the rate depends on cluster, category and sub-category, and on whether you are in the Shopee Cashback Programme (SCP). The ranges effective 14 August 2026 are: Electronics 7.5% to 14.0% on SCP and 11.0% to 16.0% off SCP; Fashion 11.5% to 13.5% and 14.0% to 17.0%; FMCG 0.0% to 15.0% and 0.0% to 17.0%; Lifestyle 11.0% to 14.0% and 13.5% to 16.5%. Because the exact sub-category rate sits in a long table on Shopee's page, you type your own rate and the calculator warns when it falls outside the published range for your cluster.
Transaction fee. Shopee's transaction fee article gives 3.5% plus 8% SST, which is 3.78%, of the final order amount paid by the buyer before Shopee-sponsored discounts, rounded up to two decimal places. Shopee's worked example lists the shipping the buyer pays among its inputs, so this calculator includes it in the base.
Service fees. Shopee's service fee article lists a Platform Support Fee of RM0.50 plus 8% SST per completed order (from 16 July 2025), a 2% pre-order service fee from 21 May 2026, and, for Cashback Programme members, 5.5% capped at RM100 per item (7.5% on campaign days), also subject to SST. The calculator applies the programme fee to the item price; Shopee does not state the base in the text we read.
New sellers. New local Marketplace sellers are not charged commission until a milestone is reached: the article says commission starts after the first product has been listed for more than 120 days or after more than 200 completed orders, effective 1 August 2026, whichever comes first.
Worked example
A RM100.00 item with RM5.19 buyer-paid shipping: commission 12% × 1.08 = RM12.96; transaction fee 3.78% of RM105.19 = RM3.98 (rounded up); platform support fee RM0.54. Total RM17.48, payout RM87.71, effective rate 16.62%. With a RM55.00 cost and RM5.19 shipping, profit is RM27.52.
Limits of this calculator
It covers local Marketplace sellers, not Shopee Mall or overseas sellers. It does not model credit-card instalment or SPayLater transaction rates, the textbook (KPM catalogue) adjustment, the commission exemptions for essential goods, or the LiveXtra programme.
