How the Faire fees are worked out

Commission. Faire's North America help article says the standard commission rate for marketplace orders is 15%, charged on the order subtotal (the wholesale cost of the items, minus any brand-funded promotions). Orders from customers you bring with your Faire Direct link pay 0% commission.

New customer fee. When a customer first discovers you on the marketplace, Faire charges a one-time $10 new customer fee on top of the commission, on that first order only.

Payment processing. Based on your payout option: next-day 3.5% + $0.30, 30-day 2.4% + $0.30 or 60-day 1.9% + $0.30. Faire's payout formula is order subtotal + shipping reimbursement - commission - payment processing fee, with processing worked out on the item subtotal.

Shipping reimbursement. Shipping is reimbursed only when you fulfil the order yourself rather than with Ship with Faire. The tool adds it to the payout and does not charge commission on it.

Net payout, profit and effective rate. Net payout = sale total - Faire fees (each line rounded to the cent). Profit = net payout - your item cost - your shipping cost. Effective fee rate = total fees / sale total.

Worked example

A first marketplace order from a new retailer for 24 units at $12 wholesale ($288 subtotal) with the 30-day payout: commission 15% = $43.20, new customer fee $10.00 and processing 2.4% + $0.30 = $7.21. Fees are $60.41 (20.98%) and you are paid $227.59. A reorder from that retailer skips the $10.

Limits of this calculator

For brands based in North America. Faire's separate article for brands outside North America lists different terms (a one-time 10% referral fee on a new customer's first order on top of 15%, and a 3% fee on next-day payouts), which this calculator does not apply. Insider Partnership shipping costs, brand-funded promotions, taxes and refunds or replacement orders are not modelled. Faire does not state whether the $0.30 is included in the "payment processing fee" in its formula line, so the tool applies the listed percentage plus $0.30 to the subtotal; confirm against the payout summary on a real order.
