How the GOAT fees are worked out
Commission. GOAT's Fee Policy says the commission is 9.5% (12.4% for Canadian sellers) plus a seller fee, deducted from the listing price. All sellers start with a rating of 90, which carries the base rate.
Rating tiers. A rating of 70 to 89 pays 15% (17.9% in Canada), 50 to 69 pays 20% (22.9%), and below 50 pays 25% (27.9%). Each seller cancellation deducts 10 points and each successful sale adds 2.
Seller fee. GOAT lists a flat seller fee by location and method: for the United States $0 for drop-off or $5 for prepaid shipping, and the same for Canada.
Cash out fee. When earnings are deposited through ACH direct deposit or PayPal, GOAT applies a 2.9% cash out fee (it may reduce or waive it in promotions). The calculator applies 2.9% to what is left after commission and seller fee, because that is the amount you cash out; choose "No" if you keep the balance on GOAT.
Net payout, profit and effective rate. Net payout = sale total - GOAT fees (each line rounded to the cent). Profit = net payout - your item cost - your shipping cost. Effective fee rate = total fees / sale total.

Limits of this calculator
United States and Canada only, in US dollars as the policy states. GOAT lists seller fees for other regions, but states the commission only for United States and Canadian sellers, so other regions are left out. The cash out base (earnings after commission and seller fee) is our reading of the policy, which says only that the fee applies when earnings are deposited. A $1 monthly maintenance fee can apply to accounts inactive for two years in certain US states; it is not modelled. GOAT may change rates and run promotions, so check an actual order.

Frequently asked questions
What are GOAT's seller fees?
A commission of 9.5% (12.4% for Canadian sellers) at a seller rating of 90 or above, plus a flat seller fee ($0 for drop-off, $5 for prepaid shipping in the US and Canada), plus a 2.9% cash out fee if you withdraw by ACH or PayPal. Source: GOAT's Fee Policy, last updated August 1, 2026.
Why is my GOAT commission higher than 9.5%?
GOAT raises the commission as your seller rating falls: 15% at 70 to 89, 20% at 50 to 69 and 25% below 50 (Canada: 17.9%, 22.9%, 27.9%). Each cancellation costs 10 rating points and each successful sale adds 2.
How much is the GOAT cash out fee?
2.9% when earnings are deposited through ACH direct deposit or PayPal. GOAT may reduce or waive it during promotional campaigns, and you can only cash out when total earnings are greater than $25.
Is the GOAT seller fee the same as the commission?
No. The commission is a percentage of the sale price. The seller fee is a flat charge that depends on your location and whether you drop off or use prepaid shipping.
What price do I need to break even selling on GOAT?
The result gives the lowest sale price, to the cent, where your payout after commission, seller fee and any cash out fee covers what you paid and your shipping cost.
