Texas insurance agent license search.

Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) licenses Texas insurance producers. Here is where its public lookup is, what to enter, and what a result does not tell you.

Short answer: TDI sends the public to the Customer Inquiry form on Sircon.com, where you can look an agent up by name or license number.

Before you search

Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) licenses insurance producers in Texas. Per the department, the public check is name or license number. Have the agent's full name and, if you can get it, their TX license number ready. Ask the agent for their NPN too: it is a nationwide identifier, separate from any state license number, and many lookups accept it.

Optional: shape-check an NPN

Runs in your browser. Nothing is sent anywhere. NIPR publishes no length or check-digit rule for an NPN, so this only checks the shape; it cannot tell you the NPN exists.

What the TX search offers

Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) directs you to name or license number. It describes the result as address, phone number, types of insurance sold and companies the agent has worked for (per TDI).

TDI says the Sircon Customer Inquiry form returns an agent's address, phone number, types of insurance they sell and companies they have worked for.

TDI also offers a downloadable list of companies, agents and adjusters that sell insurance in Texas, if you need many names at once. TDI's page was last updated 4/15/2021, so confirm details on the live form.

What a license lookup does not cover

A lookup shows a license record. It does not prove an agent is the right fit, that a policy is genuine, or that the person in front of you is the licensee. Ask the agent for their license number, compare it to the record and check the name. Insurance licenses are issued by each state's department of insurance, and a producer can hold licenses in many states under one NPN.

Frequently asked questions

How do I do a Texas insurance agent license search?

Open the official Sircon consumer inquiry for Texas from this page. Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) says to use name or license number. Results come from the department's own system, not from this page.

Can I search by NPN in Texas?

TDI's lookup page says you can search by name or license number. It does not list NPN as a search option, so use the license number if you have it.

Does the Texas lookup show complaints or discipline?

TDI's lookup page does not say the inquiry shows complaints or discipline. TDI separately publishes disciplinary orders on its site; check there as well.

Does this page verify a Texas license?

No. It links to Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) and explains the search. Only the official lookup can show a license status, and NIPR notes that updates can take 24 to 48 hours to reach its data after a state issues or renews a license.

A guide, not a verification

TNAADO is not a regulator and this page does not check anyone's license or imply official verification. It links to the official sources, which control. Do not type a Social Security Number into this page. Check the department's site for current details.
