New Jersey · Insurance Licensing
New Jersey insurance agent license search.
New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance (DOBI) licenses New Jersey insurance producers. Here is where its public lookup is, what to enter, and what a result does not tell you.
Short answer: DOBI lists a Licensee Search on its Insurance Licensing page, and a second licensee search through NAIC State Based Systems.
Before you search
New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance (DOBI) licenses insurance producers in New Jersey. Per the department, the public check is the DOBI Licensee Search; DOBI also lists a Licensee Search through NAIC State Based Systems. Have the agent's full name and, if you can get it, their NJ license number ready. Ask the agent for their NPN too: it is a nationwide identifier, separate from any state license number, and many lookups accept it.
Optional: shape-check an NPN

What the NJ search offers
New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance (DOBI) directs you to the DOBI Licensee Search; DOBI also lists a Licensee Search through NAIC State Based Systems. It describes the result as insurance licensee records held by DOBI.
DOBI's Licensee Search page redirects to a DOBI-run search application. DOBI also links the NAIC lookup as "Licensee Search (via SBS)".
The same page offers online renewals and letters that licensees can view and print.
What a license lookup does not cover
A lookup shows a license record. It does not prove an agent is the right fit, that a policy is genuine, or that the person in front of you is the licensee. Ask the agent for their license number, compare it to the record and check the name. Insurance licenses are issued by each state's department of insurance, and a producer can hold licenses in many states under one NPN.

Open the official DOBI Licensee Search for New Jersey from this page. New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance (DOBI) says to use the DOBI Licensee Search; DOBI also lists a Licensee Search through NAIC State Based Systems. Results come from the department's own system, not from this page.
Can I search by NPN in New Jersey?
DOBI's page does not list the fields of its Licensee Search. Open the search to see which identifiers it accepts.
Does the New Jersey lookup show complaints or discipline?

Does this page verify a New Jersey license?
No. It links to New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance (DOBI) and explains the search. Only the official lookup can show a license status, and NIPR notes that updates can take 24 to 48 hours to reach its data after a state issues or renews a license.
A guide, not a verification
TNAADO is not a regulator and this page does not check anyone's license or imply official verification. It links to the official sources, which control. Do not type a Social Security Number into this page. Check the department's site for current details.
