Before you search

Florida Department of Financial Services (DFS) licenses insurance producers in Florida. Per the department, the public check is individual or agency name, Florida license number or NPN, license status and category, location. Have the agent's full name and, if you can get it, their FL license number ready. Ask the agent for their NPN too: it is a nationwide identifier, separate from any state license number, and many lookups accept it.

Optional: shape-check an NPN

Runs in your browser. Nothing is sent anywhere. NIPR publishes no length or check-digit rule for an NPN, so this only checks the shape; it cannot tell you the NPN exists.

What the FL search offers

Florida Department of Financial Services (DFS) directs you to individual or agency name, Florida license number or NPN, license status and category, location. It describes the result as licenses and appointments; the page warns that results are not guaranteed to be accurate or timely.

DFS's own disclaimer on the search page reads: "information found through this service is not guaranteed to be accurate or timely".

The form also lets you filter by appointments (appointing entity, category, active or inactive) and by continuing education due dates.

What a license lookup does not cover

A lookup shows a license record. It does not prove an agent is the right fit, that a policy is genuine, or that the person in front of you is the licensee. Ask the agent for their license number, compare it to the record and check the name. Insurance licenses are issued by each state's department of insurance, and a producer can hold licenses in many states under one NPN.

Frequently asked questions

How do I search for a Florida insurance agent license?

Does this page verify a Florida license?

No. It links to Florida Department of Financial Services (DFS) and explains the search. Only the official lookup can show a license status, and NIPR notes that updates can take 24 to 48 hours to reach its data after a state issues or renews a license.

A guide, not a verification

TNAADO is not a regulator and this page does not check anyone's license or imply official verification. It links to the official sources, which control. Do not type a Social Security Number into this page. Check the department's site for current details.
