Exactly 100 words
Words are counted as runs of text between spaces, so "amet," and "elit." each count as one word. Press Generate and the statistics line above the output confirms 100 words. A hundred words is roughly one short paragraph, which suits card descriptions, product blurbs, and bios.
Where lorem ipsum comes from
The standard passage is an altered excerpt of sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of Cicero's De finibus bonorum et malorum (45 BC). Look for "dolorem ipsum, quia dolor sit, amet, consectetur, adipisci velit" in section 32 of the Latin. The words in the placeholder have been cut, reordered and changed, so the result is not meaningful Latin.
