Markup you can paste

Each paragraph is wrapped in a single <p></p> element on its own line. The generated text contains only letters, commas and full stops, so nothing needs escaping and it is safe inside any HTML template. The preview underneath shows how the browser renders it with this site's styles, not yours, so check it in your own page.

The paragraph element is defined in the HTML Standard, section 4.4.1 The p element. Paragraph counts here are exact: ask for 5 and you get 5 p elements.

The text is shuffled from the vocabulary of the classic lorem ipsum passage, an altered excerpt of Cicero's De finibus bonorum et malorum 1.10.32 to 1.10.33 (Lorem ipsum (Wikipedia, retrieved 2026-10)). It is placeholder text, not meaningful Latin. Need plain text without tags? Use the lorem ipsum generator.

Dummy Text for HTML FAQ

How do I add dummy text to an HTML page?

Choose the number of paragraphs, press Generate, copy the output and paste it where the body text should go. Each paragraph is already inside its own p element.

Is the output valid HTML?

Each paragraph is a p element containing only text, which is valid anywhere flow content is allowed. Add your own surrounding elements and classes.

Does the preview use my site's styles?

No. The preview uses this page's styles, so check the spacing and fonts in your own template.

Can I get the same dummy text again?

Yes. Enter a seed and the same options always return identical paragraphs.
