Paragraph-by-paragraph results
Each row shows its word count, sentence count, and position relative to your selected band. The text column is a preview; copied and downloaded results include the full paragraph.
Paragraph rows will appear here.
How the paragraph statistics work
Blank lines separate paragraphs. Windows CRLF and Unix LF line endings are normalized before splitting, while a single line break stays inside its paragraph. Word and sentence boundaries use the browser's Unicode-aware Intl.Segmenter when available.
What the summary reports
- Median: the middle paragraph length, or the midpoint of the two middle lengths.
- 25th, 75th, and 90th percentiles: positions in the sorted word-count distribution, calculated with the NIST/SEMATECH
p(N+1)interpolation method and clamped to the observed endpoints. - Shortest and longest: the first paragraph at each extreme when lengths are tied.
- Band flags: a literal comparison with the minimum and maximum you enter. They do not judge the writing.
Use the word count checker for whole-document counts, the sentence length analyzer for sentence-level distribution, the lexical diversity calculator for vocabulary measures, or the reading time estimator for time estimates.
Paragraph length analyzer FAQ
What counts as a paragraph?
A paragraph is a block of text separated from the next block by one or more blank lines. A single line break inside a block stays in the same paragraph.
Does the target band measure writing quality?
No. The target band is a comparison range you choose. Below-band and above-band flags describe length only; they are not readability, grade, or quality claims.
Is my text uploaded or saved?
No. Paragraph analysis, copying, and CSV creation happen locally in your browser. This tool does not upload, submit, or save the text you enter.
