Your listing text
The rules this checks
- Walmart: one paragraph with a minimum of 150 words; word count requirements vary by product category (Walmart Marketplace Learn, Product details policy).
- Google Merchant Center: description is plain text, maximum 5,000 characters (Product data specification).
- TikTok Shop: a description must be more than 80 characters to meet the Good listing-quality tier (Seller University listing-quality guidelines).
- Not included: Amazon, Shopify and Etsy description limits are not shown because we could not confirm a consistent published figure. Word counting treats hyphenated words and contractions as one word.

Frequently asked questions
How many words should a product description have?
It depends on the platform. Walmart asks for a minimum of 150 words in one paragraph, and requirements vary by category. Google and TikTok state character rules rather than word counts.
What is the Google Merchant Center description limit?
Plain text, maximum 5,000 characters.
How are words counted?
Runs of letters and numbers, including hyphens and apostrophes inside a word, count as one word. Accents and non-Latin letters are supported.
Is my text stored?
No. Counting happens in your browser and nothing is sent or saved.
