Ecommerce · product imports
Split the file, not the product.
Turn one large Shopify product CSV into smaller import files. Every handle stays with all its variant and image rows, and every part gets the original header.
Why 14 MB by default? Shopify’s published upload maximum is 15 MB. A 14 MB target leaves headroom and avoids dividing a product across files.

How the split protects Shopify product rows
- The CSV is parsed with quoted commas, line breaks, and escaped quotes preserved as field values.
- Rows are grouped by Handle (or URL handle). A blank handle row continues the preceding product.
- If the same handle appears later in the file, its rows are brought back into that product’s group without changing their order inside the group.
- Complete product groups are packed into each part without exceeding the selected byte limit. The original header is repeated.
If one product group is larger than the target by itself, the tool stops and names that handle. Increase the target up to 15 MB or reduce that product’s rows/content. It will never silently split the product.
Why product grouping matters
Shopify warns that sorting a product CSV in spreadsheet software can separate products from their image rows and cause image loss. Keeping each handle’s rows together avoids that failure mode. The generated files use UTF-8 and CRLF line endings with standard CSV quoting.
Official source: Shopify Help: Importing products with a CSV file. Shopify states that a product CSV cannot exceed 15 MB and recommends splitting the file when an upload errors or times out.
Private by design
The source CSV and generated parts stay in this browser tab. Nothing is uploaded, stored, or sent to Shopify. Review and back up product data before importing; Shopify says an import cannot be cancelled after it begins.
