What the checks mean

Rules applied (Google Merchant Center Help, read 30 September 2026)
AttributeRule
idRequired. Maximum 50 characters. Unique for each product.
titleRequired. Plain text, maximum 150 characters.
descriptionRequired. Plain text, maximum 5,000 characters.
link, image_linkRequired. Must start with http or https.
priceRequired. Number plus ISO 4217 currency code, for example 15.00 USD. A price of 0 is only allowed in narrow cases, so it is a warning.
availabilityRequired. One of in_stock, out_of_stock, preorder, backorder. Preorder and backorder should also carry availability_date.
gtinOptional here. Digits only (no dashes or spaces), 8, 12, 13 or 14 digits, correct GS1 check digit. GS1 prefixes 02, 04, 2 (restricted) and 98, 99 (coupons) are flagged.

The price check confirms the currency is three capital letters, not that it is a currently valid ISO 4217 code. Comma-separated files are checked too, but Merchant Center lists tab-delimited .txt/.tsv and XML as its file types, so you get a warning to convert before uploading. Google accepts files up to 4 GB; this page is meant for files that fit in browser memory.

Format check only — not policy eligibility

Passing here does not mean Google will approve your products. Merchant Center also applies its policies, checks your landing page and price against the feed, and may require attributes for particular categories or countries. A GTIN that passes its check digit is well formed; it does not prove the number was issued to your product.

Frequently asked questions

Does a clean report mean Merchant Center will approve it?

No. This page checks feed shape and selected attributes only; Google still reviews policy, landing pages, price consistency and account context.

Is my feed uploaded?

No. The file is read and checked in this browser tab. It is not sent to Google or TNAADO.

Privacy and scope
