Ontario eliminated licence plate renewal fees for passenger vehicles, motorcycles and light commercial vehicles effective March 13, 2022. Farm vehicles, buses, heavy commercial vehicles and trailers still have fees, listed in the lookup.

What this does not cover

This is Ontario only. Registration costs in Alberta, British Columbia and other provinces are set by different rules (Alberta publishes them in its Registry Agent Product Catalogue) and are not included. Taxes, insurance and the sales tax paid on a vehicle purchase are separate; see the used vehicle private sale tax calculator.
