EGBC registrant lookup.
Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC) keeps the public Registrant Directory for British Columbia. This page explains what it shows and links you straight to it. It does not search for you or confirm anyone’s status itself.
Short answer: the official place to check is the Engineers and Geoscientists BC Registrant Directory. Open it in a normal browser, as EGBC’s site can block automated tools.
What the EGBC Registrant Directory covers
- EGBC links its Registrant Directory from its site as “Find a Registrant”. This page links to it and does not reproduce what it contains.
- Check the terms on the directory page before copying anything from it. This page links out instead of copying data.
Check a registrant in British Columbia
- Open the EGBC Registrant Directory using the button above.
- Choose individuals or firms, then search by the name on the document or contract.
- Read the status and any practice restrictions, not just whether a name appears.
- If you cannot find the person, check spelling variants and the name on the document, then contact EGBC directly.
Why check British Columbia engineer or geoscientist registration
People check the register before signing a contract with a consultant or contractor who advertises engineering or geoscience services, before relying on a stamped drawing or report, and when a firm says it holds a Certificate of Authorization or permit. Match the name, the member or licence number and the status to the document in front of you. Our P.Eng vs EIT and stamp guide explains why a title or stamp alone is not proof, and the province finder links every regulator we cover.

Frequently asked questions
Where do I verify an engineer in British Columbia?
In the EGBC Registrant Directory on the EGBC website. It is the regulator’s own register of individuals and firms.
What does the EGBC directory show about a registrant?
The EGBC website links to its Registrant Directory under “Find a Registrant”. We have not independently confirmed which fields it displays, so read the directory itself and match the name, number and status to your document.
Can I copy the EGBC directory into a spreadsheet?
We do not copy or compile register data, and we suggest checking EGBC’s terms of use on its directory page before reusing any of it. Look people up one at a time.
Guide only — not a verification tool
This page is a guide to a public register run by the regulator. It does not look up, scrape, store or transmit anyone’s details, and it cannot confirm a licence on its own. Only the regulator’s register, or the regulator itself, can tell you whether someone is currently licensed.
