Worked example
For the 90th percentile: the MCAT total is 515 (percentile rank 91, with 514 at 89); the LSAT is 168 (91.36 percent below, with 167 at 89.53); and the SAT total is 1290 on the nationally representative scale (percentile 90, with 1280 at 89).
How it works
The tool scans the official table for the lowest score whose published percentile is at or above the one you enter. Nothing is interpolated. Because the tables jump by whole points, the percentile of the score returned is usually a little above your target, and the next score down is shown so you can see the step.
Each owner defines its percentile differently, so a 90 is not the same statement across tests: SAT is the percentage with scores equal to or lower, MCAT the percentage of scores equal to or less, GRE and LSAT the percentage who scored lower, and GMAT the percentage a candidate performed better than. Reference groups and years also differ. GMAC says GMAT scores should not be compared with scores on other tests, and ETS says GRE measures should be compared through percentiles within the GRE. Use this tool to read one test at a time.
Values such as 99+ (SAT) and less than 1 (MCAT) are treated as just above 99 and just under 1. Not affiliated with any test owner.
