How do I convert rubric points to a percentage?
An analytic rubric rates each criterion on its own scale. In the points method, the percent is total points earned divided by total points possible, so a criterion with a bigger maximum counts for more. In the weights method each criterion's percent of its own maximum is multiplied by its weight, summed, and divided by the total weight, so a 4-point criterion can count for the same as a 10-point one. Rubric structure (criteria with performance levels) follows the Carnegie Mellon Eberly Center description. Which method your course uses is up to the instructor.
Worked example. 3 of 4, 8 of 10 and 2 of 6 is 13 of 20, which is 65%. With weights of 50 and 50, 3 of 4 (75%) and 5 of 10 (50%) is 62.5%.
Frequently asked questions
How do you calculate a rubric score as a percent?
Add the points earned across criteria, divide by the total possible points, and multiply by 100.
What if criteria are worth different amounts?
Switch to weights mode and enter a weight for each criterion. The weights do not need to add to 100.
Does 3 out of 4 equal 75 percent?
Yes on a straight conversion. Whether your school treats 3 of 4 as a B or a pass is a local grading policy.
Can I leave a criterion blank?
Yes, rows with no points earned and no maximum are skipped.

Percent conversion is arithmetic. Rubric structure is described by the Eberly Center. Runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent or stored.
Scope
How a rubric score maps to a final grade is set by your course. Arithmetic only, not official grading guidance.
