How it is calculated

Fee = price × (percentage fee + any currency-conversion percentage) + fixed fee, rounded to the cent. You keep = price − fee. Price to charge for a target amount = (target + fixed fee) ÷ (1 − total percentage), rounded up to the cent and then checked so the net is never below the target.

Worked example: at 1.5% + €0.25 (standard eea cards), a €100.00 sale costs €1.75, so you keep €98.25. To receive exactly €100.00 you charge €101.78, which carries a €1.78 fee.

FAQ

What does Stripe charge in Ireland?

On Stripe’s own pricing page, retrieved October 2026, the first rate is standard eea cards at 1.5% + €0.25 per transaction. Other card types and currency conversion add to it; every rate is listed on this page and editable above.

How do I work out the price to charge so I receive an exact amount?

Divide the amount you want plus the fixed fee by one minus the percentage rate. At 1.5% + €0.25, receiving €100.00 means charging €101.78 (fee €1.78). The calculator rounds to the cent and checks that the net is never below your target.

Are these Stripe fees guaranteed?

No. They are the published standard rates as of October 2026. Stripe can change them, and your account may have custom pricing, so check your own account before quoting. This is an estimate, not Stripe advice.

Does this include tax, disputes or payout fees?

No. Tax on fees, dispute fees, payout fees and volume discounts are not part of the sale calculation. Dispute fee for reference: €20.00.
