How it is calculated
Fee = price × (percentage fee + any currency-conversion percentage) + fixed fee, rounded to the cent. You keep = price − fee. Price to charge for a target amount = (target + fixed fee) ÷ (1 − total percentage), rounded up to the cent and then checked so the net is never below the target.
Worked example: at 1.65% + $0.30 (domestic cards), a $100.00 sale costs $1.95, so you keep $98.05. To receive exactly $100.00 you charge $101.98, which carries a $1.98 fee.
Rates used (retrieved October 2026)
- Domestic cards: 1.65% + $0.30
- International cards: 3.5% + $0.30
- Currency conversion required (+2%)

Stripe Australia pricing: stripe.com/au/pricing, retrieved 2026-10. Stripe’s Australian page states these card fees include GST. The calculator applies the rates as published and does not split out GST. Stripe lists A$25.00 for a dispute received and A$25.00 for a dispute countered (refunded only if you win). The page also says international card pricing will be lower from 1 April 2027 but does not list the new rate, so this calculator uses today’s 3.5% + A$0.30.

FAQ
What does Stripe charge in Australia?
On Stripe’s own pricing page, retrieved October 2026, the first rate is domestic cards at 1.65% + $0.30 per transaction. Other card types and currency conversion add to it; every rate is listed on this page and editable above.
How do I work out the price to charge so I receive an exact amount?
Divide the amount you want plus the fixed fee by one minus the percentage rate. At 1.65% + $0.30, receiving $100.00 means charging $101.98 (fee $1.98). The calculator rounds to the cent and checks that the net is never below your target.
