Method and limits
Premium Tier usage is counted per destination, so each destination you fill in gets its own free allowance and its own tier breaks (1,024 GiB and 10,240 GiB). Standard Tier uses one scale for total traffic: 200 GiB free per month across all regions, then breaks at 10,240 GiB and 153,600 GiB. Bands are graduated: each rate applies only to the GiB inside its band.
The rates apply to traffic from VMs and most services to the internet. They do not apply to Cloud CDN, CDN Interconnect, Carrier Peering, Direct Peering or Cloud Interconnect traffic, which have their own pages. Inbound transfer is free. Cloud Storage has its own egress table, covered in the object storage comparison.

Frequently asked questions
How much does GCP charge for egress?
On Premium Tier, the default, internet egress to North America is $0.12 per GiB after the first free GiB, falling to $0.11 above 1,024 GiB and $0.08 above 10,240 GiB per month. Other destinations have their own tables, and Australia, South America, the Middle East, Africa and China cost more.
Is GCP egress free?
Inbound data transfer is free. For outbound traffic, the first 1 GiB per month is free to most Premium Tier destinations, and Standard Tier lists 200 GiB free per month across all regions.
What is the difference between Premium and Standard Tier?
Premium Tier carries traffic over Google’s backbone and is the default. Standard Tier uses the public internet to carry traffic and is priced lower. Google states that Always Free usage limits do not apply to Standard Tier, which has its own 200 GiB free allowance.
Does this apply to Cloud Storage and Cloud CDN?
No. Cloud CDN has its own pricing, and Cloud Storage publishes a separate data-transfer table that the object storage comparison uses.
