eBay UK business seller fees: category percentage, per-order fee, regulatory fee, VAT on the fees, payout and profit. All rates are editable and nothing leaves your browser.
On eBay.co.uk a business seller pays a category percentage of the order total (item, postage and taxes) plus a per-order fee of 30p up to £10 or 40p above, a 0.35% regulatory operating fee, and VAT at 20% on top of all of it. On a £40 item with £4 postage in a 10.9% category the fees are £6.42 including VAT, you keep £37.58, and your profit after £10 item cost, £1 packaging and £3 postage is £23.58.

Worked example
A business seller sells a £40 item with £4 postage charged in a 10.9% category. The order total is £44.00. Final value fee: 10.9% x £44 = £4.80. Per-order fee (order over £10): £0.40. Regulatory operating fee: 0.35% x £44 = £0.15. Subtotal £5.35; VAT at 20% adds £1.07, so eBay charges £6.42 and you receive £37.58. Profit after £10 item cost, £1 packaging and £3 postage: £23.58. To make £20 profit on the same costs, list at £35.86. If you are VAT registered the £1.07 VAT on fees is reclaimable, but VAT inside the sale price is owed to HMRC: the same sale then leaves a profit of £17.32.
How it works
The percentage is charged on the whole order. eBay's business-seller fee page says the final value fee is a variable percentage of the total amount of the sale, which includes the item price, postage and any applicable taxes, plus a per-order fee. The calculator therefore adds postage to the price before applying the category rate. Where a category is tiered (Jewellery & Watches, Coins, Mobile & Smart Phones) the lower rate applies only to the part of the sale above the threshold.
Per-order fee. 30p for orders of £10.00 or less and 40p above £10.00. eBay's January 2026 rate card notice moved the over-£10 fee from 30p to 40p from 12 February 2026.
Regulatory operating fee. 0.35% of the total sale. VAT. eBay lists the business fees exclusive of VAT, so 20% is added. A VAT-registered seller can normally reclaim it; the "VAT registered" option removes it from your costs and also takes the VAT inside your selling price out of your profit. This is a guide to the arithmetic, not VAT advice.
Surcharges. Below Standard accounts pay 6 percentage points more on the final value fee the following month (7 after four consecutive months); a very high "item not as described" rate adds 4 points (5 after four months). The calculator applies the extra points to the order total.
Limits
Only the main category rates are listed; eBay's page has many more subcategories, and where an item is listed in two categories the higher fee applies, so choose "Another category" and enter the rate shown for your subcategory. The reduced 10p per-order fee for some Collectables and Home, Furniture & DIY listings, Shop subscriptions, optional listing upgrades, Promoted Listings, the seller currency conversion charge (2.5%, rising to 2.75% from 1 December 2026) and disputes are not modelled. Private sellers have a different, mostly free, schedule: see the UK private seller calculator. One item per order is assumed.

FAQ
What are eBay UK final value fees for business sellers?
A category percentage of the total sale (item, postage and taxes), commonly 9.9% to 12.9%, plus a per-order fee of 30p up to £10 or 40p above, and a 0.35% regulatory operating fee. eBay quotes these exclusive of VAT, so 20% VAT is added.
Does eBay UK charge fees on postage?
For business sellers yes: eBay defines the total amount of the sale as the item price, postage and any applicable taxes, and the percentage fees are charged on that total.
Is VAT added to eBay UK fees?
eBay lists business seller fees exclusive of VAT, so VAT at 20% is added to them. If you are VAT registered you can normally reclaim it as input VAT; the calculator has an option for that.
How much is the eBay UK per-order fee?
30p for orders of £10.00 or less and 40p for orders over £10.00. The higher fee applies from 12 February 2026.
Are private sellers charged the same fees?
No. UK-based private sellers pay no final value fee or regulatory operating fee on UK sales; see the eBay UK private seller fees calculator.
