Formula: revenue kept = buyer-paid total / (1 + VAT rate) when you are VAT registered, otherwise the full total. Profit = revenue kept - referral fee (on the VAT-inclusive total by default) - FBA fulfilment fee - 1.5% fuel and logistics surcharge (if ticked) - storage - plan fee per unit - tax added on Amazon fees (if any) - your product, inbound and other costs.
The common error: calculating the referral fee on the ex-VAT price. Amazon applies it to the total the buyer pays, so the "ex-tax" option here only exists to show how large that error is for your price.
FBA fee: UK FBA fees depend on size tier, weight and, in some categories and in the festive peak, different tables. They are not looked up here; copy the figure from Amazon's rate card or Revenue Calculator. Plan fees are £0.75 per item (Individual) or £25 a month excluding VAT (Professional).

FAQ
Is the Amazon UK referral fee calculated on the price with or without VAT?
Amazon's UK pricing page says the referral fee is a percentage of the total sales price, defined as the total amount paid by the buyer including delivery and gift wrapping. UK consumer prices include VAT, so the fee base is the VAT-inclusive price, not the ex-VAT price. The page does not use the words "VAT-inclusive", so confirm against a settlement report for your own account.
Do I still pay the referral fee on the VAT I collect?
On Amazon's stated definition, yes: the base is the total amount paid by the buyer, which includes VAT on UK consumer prices. That is why the referral fee looks higher than a percentage of your ex-VAT price.
What is the FBA fuel and logistics surcharge?
From 17 April 2026 Amazon applies a 1.5% fuel and logistics-related surcharge to FBA fulfilment fees in the UK and several European stores. Tick the box if the fee you entered is the rate-card figure before the surcharge.
Can I reclaim VAT on Amazon fees?
That depends on your VAT registration and is not tax advice. Amazon quotes plan fees excluding VAT. The "tax added on Amazon fees" field lets you model either case.
