Rates are those printed on Amazon’s “Monthly inventory storage fees” page when read on 18 October 2026. Amazon prints no effective date on that page.
Method and limits
Formula. Base fee = average daily units in storage × volume per unit (length × width × height in inches ÷ 1,728) × the per-cubic-foot rate for the size tier and month. October to December is the peak period. Dangerous goods use their own rates ($0.99 / $3.63 standard, $0.78 / $2.43 oversize).
Surcharge. It is added only if ALL of these hold: Professional account; first shipment to a U.S. fulfillment center more than 365 days ago; average daily volume in the size tier at or above 25 cubic feet; storage utilization ratio above 22 weeks. It is charged only on inventory aged over 30 days. Rates per cubic foot (standard / oversize): 22 to 28 weeks $0.44 / $0.23; 28 to 36 $0.76 / $0.46; 36 to 44 $1.16 / $0.63; 44 to 52 $1.58 / $0.76; over 52 $1.88 / $1.26.
Judgement call. Amazon’s bands share endpoints (22 to 28, 28 to 36 and so on). This tool puts a ratio of exactly 28, 36, 44 or 52 weeks in the lower band, and requires a ratio strictly above 22 for any surcharge because the page says “above 22 weeks”. Amazon lists no surcharge schedule for dangerous goods, so none is applied. Aged inventory surcharges (181 days and over) are separate: see the aged inventory tool.

FAQ
How much are Amazon FBA storage fees per cubic foot?
For non-dangerous goods, standard-size inventory is $0.78 per cubic foot from January to September and $2.40 from October to December. Oversize is $0.56 and $1.40 for the same periods, per Amazon’s monthly inventory storage fees page.
When does the Q4 peak storage rate apply?
Amazon’s peak period is October through December. The monthly fee is based on your daily average volume, so inventory you hold across the peak is charged the higher rate for those months.
What is the storage utilization surcharge?
It is an extra per-cubic-foot charge on inventory aged over 30 days. It applies only to Professional sellers whose first FBA shipment was over 365 days ago, who average at least 25 cubic feet in the size tier and whose storage utilization ratio is above 22 weeks.
How is the storage utilization ratio calculated?
It is your average daily inventory volume divided by your average daily shipped volume over the past 13 weeks, divided by 7 days in a week. Amazon calculates it separately for standard-size and oversize and uses the ratio from the last day of the month.
When are storage fees charged?
Monthly, typically between the 7th and 15th day of the month after the fees were incurred, based on the daily average volume your inventory occupied.
