How to octal to text by hand
Octal is base 8: digits 0 to 7 only, and each place is worth a power of 8. A byte is up to three octal digits, 000 to 377. To decode by hand, work out each value (110 is 1×64 + 1×8 + 0 = 72), then look up the character for that code (72 is H).
Values must be separated, because octal digits have no fixed width on the way in; leading zeros are fine. Anything above 377 (255 decimal) is not a single byte and is rejected. The bytes are read as strict UTF-8.

Octal to text FAQ
How do I convert octal to text?
Convert each octal number to decimal, then look up the character with that code. 110 octal is 72, which is H; 151 octal is 105, which is i.
What is the octal for the letter A?
A is code 65, which is 101 in octal (1×64 + 0×8 + 1).
Why does it reject 400 or 777?
The largest byte is 255, which is 377 in octal. Larger values are not single bytes, so separate the input into values of 377 or less.
Can I paste backslash escapes?
Yes. \110\145\154\154\157 is read as the five octal values 110 145 154 154 157.
Is anything uploaded?
No. Decoding happens in your browser.
